About the Dharmavaram Development Centre

Dharmavaram Development Centre is one of the four development centers operated by RDT-Anantapur Sports Academy (ASA) in Anantapur. This center was built in 2010 in Taraka Ramapuram village on the outskirts of Dharmavaram (Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh). Currently, 75 boys and 15 Girls are attending regular sports training in field hockey and cricket during the morning and evening.

Children have access to sports infrastructure including sports grounds with changing rooms. Full-time coaches are available to provide regular training in respective sports. Children are provided with playing kit and sports equipment for regular practice.

Most of these children are from low-income families where their parents work as weavers, farmers, and daily wage laborers.

ASA is a sports-for-development program initiated in 2000 by Rural Development Trust (RDT), a non-governmental organization (NGO), based in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. RDT believes that youth participation in sports is essential for the growth, self-esteem, and confidence of children particularly in the rural areas. ASA is committed to leveraging the power of sports to achieve social change among the rural and underprivileged children and youth in Anantapur.

Thank you for your generous support of this important initiative!
