Your Gift Will Help Single Mothers in Rural India Learn New Skills and Earn a Sustainable Income
Widows and abandoned women from marginalized communities face numerous challenges, including societal exclusion, deprivation of inheritance rights, and social stigmatization. By supporting this initiative, you will empower 18 women from 18 villages on their journey toward economic independence. Through a comprehensive three-wheeler training program in a traditionally male-dominated field, these single mothers will gain skills in entrepreneurship, personal safety, and self-defense. This training will not only equip them to manage their businesses effectively but also instill hope and resilience, inspiring many others in their communities.
In rural India, many young widows face severe challenges. Nagalxmi’s story is a testament to resilience. Married at 11 and widowed by 17, she was left with two young children and significant debt, with no family support. Despite these hardships, she trained to become one of the first female auto-rickshaw drivers in Andhra Pradesh. Today, Nagalxmi is financially independent and a respected community leader, inspiring other women to overcome barriers and seek similar opportunities.
Together, we can pave the way for freedom, equality, and independence—one woman at a time.
Did you know that women reinvest 90% of their income in their families? That means that when you give a woman the skills and support she needs to make a living, you increase the likelihood that her children will get a good education and that her whole family will receive healthcare and nutrition. The ripple effect spreads far beyond the women you help, beginning a cycle of positive change that impacts her whole community. When you empower a woman, you empower a village.
