Current Challenges:
In India, women have traditionally been discriminated against and excluded from decision-making in public and private spheres, especially in rural areas.
Girls often drop out of school to get married or take care of the family, which prevents many of them from finishing high school or going to college.
- The literacy rate for women is 65%, compared to 80% for men.
- Only 21% of local students who pursue STEM degrees are women.
Why Your Help is Important:
Through VFF USA's STEM Education Scholarship Program, students receive 100% financial support toward their education and currently, 51.6% of scholarships are distributed to girls.
This program aims to provide a financial boost to the young people from impoverished communities in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with a focus on women to help them graduate and find employment in a technical field.
We are thrilled to unveil our project that aims to uplift the lives of exceptional and deserving girl students who have not only excelled in their secondary education but have also successfully qualified in the rigorous entrance test conducted by our local implementation partner. These remarkable young women are now on the cusp of embarking on a transformative educational journey like no other. Under this groundbreaking initiative, we are offering an integrated educational scholarship package that spans an incredible six-year period, providing comprehensive support for their educational aspirations. The package encompasses two years of intermediate education followed by four years of professional/technical and higher education. Our ultimate goal is to empower these talented students with quality education that will enhance their job prospects, elevate their socio-economic status, and ignite their self-confidence and esteem. Through this project, we envision a future where these meritorious students can unleash their true potential, excel in their chosen fields, and become agents of positive change within their communities. By investing in their education, we firmly believe in unlocking endless opportunities that will shape their futures and contribute to a more equitable and prosperous society.
