Fund essential nutrition and counselling support for 198 widows and 7 deserted women in 103 villages

Widowhood has traditionally been dreaded in India. It lowers the status of women and is accompanied by several indignities.

In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana there are thousands of widows who have severe malnutrition that causes anemia and immune system weakness.

These women are looked down by all means and are subjected to gender based, cultural biased and caste-based discrimination.

Whereas a widower can remarry as many times as he likes, a widow or deserted woman cannot remarry irrespective of her age.

Stigmatized, unable to find a job to pay off their husbands' debts, the widows are left in a desperate state.

To support these women, we launched #Healthisarightforall campaign to fund the Marginalized Women Nutrition Program which will help 2,000 women in rural India receive a nutritional supplement for each woman and her family.

Out of these 2,000 women, VFF USA has chosen to raise funds and provide a one-year support to a total of 205 marginalized women including 198 widows and 7 deserted women from 103 villages.

We are asking for your generous donation, however large or small, to help these desperate women improve their health and get back to normal life and support their families.

You have a choice of supporting one woman for one, three, six, nine or twelve months. Will you help us to help these widows and deserted women to get back on their feet?

Important Fact: Many widows are forced to take their sons and daughters out of school to work and support the family. Any widowed woman who receives our nutritional pack, agrees to have her sons and daughters enrolled in school as an essential requirement!

What exactly do we provide?

A 3-months nutritional package includes:

- 18 kg of rice

- 6 kg of flour

- 3 liters of milk

- 5 kg of cereal
